2 (9 inch) unbaked piecrust
1 cup sugar
4 Tbsp. flour
9 large Pippin or Granny Smith apples
1 tsp. Cinnamon
1 tsp. Cardamom
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg
4 Tbsp. Butter
2 Tbsp. Lemon juice
Peel and core the apples and slice into various pieces into large bowl.
Add flour, sugar, spices and lemon juice to apples, mix until apples are coated.
Roll out half the pie crust and place into 9 inch deep pie dish.
Carefully, fill piecrust with apple mixture. Roll out other half of dough;
Fold in half and place on top of pie. Pinch around the edges and cut slits
In top of dough. Cut 2 tablespoons butter and dot on top.
Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes,
Lower heat to 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
